The society (STEPS) was encorporated in 2005 and its purpose is to protect and enhance the environment and amenities in the St Lukes area. It has special focus on Meola Creek.
Increased commercial and residential pressure in St Lukes, Sandringham and Mt Albert have had some unfortunate side-effects, says the society – pointing, as an example, to Auckland Council signs warning of the polluted state of Meola Creek from overflows from sewers and stormwater drains.
